Sam Crawford – the talented up and coming Australian DJ/Producer, was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. He lived and studied music on the North Coast of NSW near Byron Bay for many years and is now based back in Sydney.
At an early age - captivated by a wide range of music, from Rock and Reggae to Disco and Hip Hop - Sam was influenced by artists like Depeche Mode, New Order, INXS, Quincy Jones, The Neptunes, Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk to name but a few.
In 1990 Sam received his first pair of turntables and within a few months he became the 'kid' to call to DJ the local house parties. As time progressed so did Sam. In the early to mid 90's Sam found himself influenced by all genres of dance music and DJs. He was listening to everything from deep house to techno and trance. In 1998 he began a Bachelor of Contemporary Music and it was here that he discovered computers and sequencing. This is the foundation that makes Sam the DJ and producer he is today.
When asked to explain his favourite type of music, Sam responds, ‘Any music that gives me emotions, feelings and makes me feel like some else understands my point of view …..for me, music is an art-form.’
In addition to producing under his own name, Sam has also released works under different project names: The ProDJuiceR, SnM (with DJ Magu - see his site HERE) and with The Pleasure Dome project on Setting Sun Records.
DJ SAM is a talent to be watched. His sound and style make him a favourite anywhere he plays. His music has taken clubbers on a voyage - connecting their minds to their bodies with the drum beats as their catalyst.
